If that were the case, I would sell my house and live in a tent because it's less expensive. 

I’m looking to start in DFW since I live in Arlington but eventually I’ll be open to other markets to diversify my portfolio.  

Our lot is fenced in and we cannot see where he lives but close enough to be of concern, but we want to stay in the same town until the kids are finished school.So, my question is this, would it make sense to rent our home (roughly $2300-2500/mo. as per real-estate agent claims), with the stipulation that the garage is used for my business AND buy a home nearby?

if you buy it yourself and turn it into a live in flip and absolutely crush it, great! 

I’ve fixed leaks, change toilets and still keep going up.I’m at appoint now when I moved out, I thought I’d be making money because while I lived there  I’d be going even.

P.S; We live in Wilmington NC so both markets would be "long distance" P.S.P.S there are no reasonably priced multi family properties local to us.

I live in CA and drove that route for years to visit family in Phoenix, AZ. 

We’re fortunate to have an above-average income and live well below our means.This summer, we’ll be moving to Detroit (PCSing in August), and we’ve saved about $120,000 to invest in addition to having funds set aside for the home we’ll purchase in Detroit.The reason I’m posting is that I’m struggling to decide how to best allocate the $120k.
