As an example, if a couple brokers say that it should be a gas station, ask them to speak to a few gas station developers who may be interested and work out a partnership with them or pay them as consulting fee for helping you set it up.

Hello All, I am currently going through growing pains in my knowledge of investing in real estate, for the past 12+ years i have bought 7 properties as primary residences when i would switch duty stations along my career.

I have no idea how long they will be stationed at this base so who knows where they will be sent next. 

I am stationed overseas as well and I purchased my first property over here.The biggest thing is having a solid team of people where you plan on investing.

My husband and I have been investing in Dallas, Austin and College Station for the past 7 years.

@Giovanni Luna Usually, the people I've known who have done this have lived in the homes and then rented them out after they get assigned their next duty station.

I need to be close to a train station that's within 30-40 min to NYC not only for investment purposes, but also for my wife's commute to work.

I am looking at a beautiful 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home with finished basement near a University I would like to rent out for Student housing. 2 miles from a train station, 5 blocks from the University entrance.

I am currently stationed at Eglin AFB in Crestview FL but I go to Tampa a lot.
