A Registered Agent is NOT a member of the entity - -in fact CAN NOT BE, and thus has no liability whatsoever.The agent only receives legal notices and communicates with the members.However, the RA must also be registered with the State Board as an RA.

I guess bottom line its DIY  go big  or let someone else do the heavy lifting.I kind of like the note funds myself if your going into that space @Mike Hartzog has one I think its in the 20 million range I would almost bet that most people would do far better just investing in his fund then trying to do it themselves and blowing a ton of dough on education and the like.. but that again is just my opinion based on a few decades of doing this.its easy to sell the ra ra..

With those previous addressed, you can make use of a registered agent to accept service, although if someone comes to personally serve you it could come back as an issue as they will only personally serve you not a RA, that only really applies if you get seriously sued, so don't do that and should be fine (lol).
