Trying to paint everything as nuanced as this with a broad brush will get you in trouble.  

Then I roll the walls and brush the trim, in that order.

It's cheaper and probably doesn't spread as well, but I do the application with a white china brush.

Before cleaning again, I would buy a plastic bristled brush set for a drill.
