While I am nowhere near an insurance specialist, I wonder how some of the principals can met with doing one umbrella across multiple LLC's.

Go immediately and start working at a specialist brokerage that only does apartments.

And make sure you find a specialist for the rent controlled area your rental is in.Good luck. 

I would highly advise seeking advice from a cross border legal/accounting specialist to get the correct info for setting up your entity holding structure properly.  

Per our last conversation this past Friday, he informed me that the VA is requesting for proof that he has been a landlord and he is scrambling to provide this documentation.Based on this information, If you are still planning to use your VA Loan benefit, I would advise you to work with an experienced VA Loan Specialist to get all the intel upfront to minimize any sudden home buying contingencies.
