If you feel a moral obligation to them, just cut them a check as a “thank you” after you’re cashed out, I do this sometimes.

I don't know what the moral of this story is but they are moving out as I write this.

Somehow I think you might have a moral obligation on this one.

The moral of that story is to listen intently in your training about how to complete the paperwork, what the process is, compliance, etc.

@Robin Morales The problem is if they decide that the living arrangement doesn't work anymore, neither can exit if the other can't afford or doesn't want to buy the other half of the house, which seems like will be the case for the foreseeable future. 

I guess my question gets more into morality of the situation.

I see both sides, but the moral hazard is apparent, however is the incentive to not sell greater than the commission collected from doing the job properly.

If you feel a moral obligation to help the family out, that's up to you.

I see this forum is more for landlord's, then for a tenant with issues.its very sad to see how many of you are morally bankrupt.
