A "new roof" is great and will last 20+ years but there are plenty of people that just take shortcuts and put a new layer of asphalt shingles on top of the old ones to save time and money. 

Once the lot is plowed, it will typically be more slick than before it was plowed, due to the thin layer of snow/ice left on the asphalt.

If the stars align, and the church agrees, I'm gonna build an asphalt parking lot on the land and lease the parking lot to the church for parking. 

Have said handyman toss a quick patch in the ceiling while he is there, a piece of strapping, small piece of board and a quick 1 coat of mud with tape for now.

It seems to be alot easier to do real estate in the USA as theres alot of red tape overhere...
