If it is not legal, you can report it to the police. 

I call the police, and head over there for breaking and entering. 

If there is no lease then I have seen people contact the police to gain access to the property.

It no longer matters if there's any truth in the story line - journalism is treated as an education business so there are no journalistic standards requiring truth or fact checking and, unfortunately, it's also not an industry capable of policing itself.

Maybe file a police report for your records?
