Why not buy a simple small home, preferably with an en suite and from there convert it into a simple 2 stage apartment.. you live in one half of the ‘house’ an the other pays your half.Both would need work I know but with the en suite all you would need is a cooking facility for the other section/apartment an another small toilet for yourself...

Hi @Wei Cho - Yes, each lender will require their own appraisal (unless you're doing an FHA or VA loan) and, yes, you should expect to be the one to pay for them.Unless you're seeing Lender #1 offer up better terms when the property appraises within one price range and Lender #2 offers the better terms in a different price range, I'd stop shopping it around now.
