Whereas in the rest of the house you're more likely to spill food or drink and hardwoods and tile are much easier to clean.Ultimately, you can't go wrong either way and it's not going to make that much of a difference.

It's much easier to get honest answers that way because you can see how comfortable they feel in answering questions like, "Do you smoke/drink/do drugs/have pets?"
