Richard - Yes, you are correct!  

If you really want to invest there, as Richard said, definitely make a trip up there first. 

@Richard Mazolewski This may not be the answer you are looking for, but I have been in your shoes before while living and starting out in NYC.Getting a job in real estate (like becoming an agent part time or something) popped into my head.

@Richard Lundy JrI highly recommend talking to a few to find one that best fits your goals and ambitions.
