A recipient might try to make themselves look poor when, in fact, they have assets.

They may have a template form you can fill out and then have the title company record.If they just want to give this away, I'd think the recipient would be willing to put out a little effort to make this happen.

What's to be noted is the lack of creative direct response envelopes or clever packaging to get recipient's attention and get opened.

For federal income tax purposes, any gifts of money or property to a single individual that totals more than $14K during the year do trigger a gift tax return for the giver (not the recipient).
