Often times, they actually take away from your settlement because they could not negotiate a large enough settlement from the insurance carrier, but you still owe them your fee.Give your insurance carrier and adjuster an opportunity to meet with you, explain the claims process, and address your concerns.

@Daylen Fiallo  I think this depends on your strategy.If your strategy is to buy and hold - I would HIGHLY recommend going with a RCV (Replacement Cost Value) policy which is offered by many carriers.

Unfortunately as you have found, few carriers offer this coverage any more due to fraudulent activity 10 years ago.
