However, the general erosion of property rights over the years has led to the perception - widely shared by academics, government officials and large portions of the public - that a leasehold grants greater rights to the tenant - rights that start to resemble outright ownership.  

Academic experience is great but there is nothing like getting out there and doing it.

Clint Coons has a pleasant voice to listen to, and and some really great ideas and explanations of his reasoning, which is more valuable to me than the ideas themselves. 

My university had 3 paths for the major: Real Estate, Finance, and Law.I think real estate finance will really help you understand both the academic side of IRR/NPV/Cap Rate/GRM/etc and being on BP you can network and learn the application and relevance of the academia.What part of finance interests you the most?
