It's great to read the books you mentioned that cover the basics but bear in mind that investing in different countries can be very different and you cannot blindly apply a US recipe on Greek real estate.

If they grew up in a lower economic area they can become blinded and apathetic to such conditions and can lack knowing much better is out there for them.

If it makes you feel any better I've had a house renovated recently after a tenant trashed it (had to paint, replace doors, blinds, haul trash, carpet clean, etc.).

I would encourage you to google "how to take pictures of a house" for some tips on how to take the pictures first (like taking the pictures from hip distance from the ground or which position to have the blinds and curtains in for best lighting) and using some free software online (search for pixlr).
