I know people that do but its a JOB  you have to be able to do data mining  marketing and cold call and sales and closing.wereas the HML just has it teed up.. now granted your rates of return will be a little less.. but your risk is FAR lower and your money is usually working a lot more.. it can take months to find the right note and cost a lot of money.. you can spend all the money on direct mail of notes and never buy one.. when all the time your HML has you earning checks..

The 1000 and 2000 series are pretty cheaply made (and cheap); however the 4000 series is the higher-end window (in the lower end brand); but it doesn't cost as much as a Pella or MillGuard window.

To simplify the concept, depreciation is just a question of whether you are allowed to take 100% of a cost as an expense today or whether you must take the expense allocated in some fashion over time.
