Every house I have bid on is cash on demand 100% at the end of bidding - certified funds or greenbacks. ( I have never seen anyone pay in greenbacks however it is accepted where I am from)2) Sometimes I get great deals - just like every where else in REI world competition is fierce.3) I can only speak to CO trustee sales - banks will look to recover the outstanding debt owed by whomever defaulted.In many cases the bank will accept what they call a 'deficiency', which is essentially less than what they are owed. example: Outstanding debt: $150000, Deficiency: $50000 Opening bid: $100000

Value added is both societal value and monetary value ... these two concepts are one in the same for a sustainable business and life; it is possible to decouple the two in the short-term, but this will always be short lived and usually ends catastrophically when the universe reunites the two ...I agree that investing, any business, and life for that matter needs to be informed by a deeper philosophy and purpose that goes beyond just chasing greenbacks.

I need to stop here and take into consideration the new investor who doesn’t have a war chest of greenbacks to get started with.If you’re just beginning or starting out with a small amount of capital then you will most likely have to find’em and fix’em on the first one or two properties.

Maybe it would play out as you describe in front of a judge, but I just had a half-serious conversation about the feasibility of paying "cash" (greenbacks, not a wire or cashier's check) for a house and the title company said they will never accept cash.
