I am looking for a mentor who is willing to take the time and have patience to teach a newbie the ins and outs of real estae investing.  

As there is no longer a northern Michigan Real Estae investing group and am considering starting one myself....would like to visit the Grand Rapids meetings if possible (weather permitting .... that is a 3 hour drive for me).  

i dont really know much about real estae either, but i am willing to share what i do know.

To add to some of those that you have already mentioned.Red: No written contract and wants money up front (assuming you have not est a relationship).Run:  Absolute piece of s*** vehicle that usually does not fit the stereotype of the trade they claim to be a part of.Red: Cant return a phone call in a timely fashion.

I have not walked the properties, however requested through my agent the Schedule E, break down of Utilities as far as what is covered vs what is subbed, Insurance est as it is in flood, and lease info (Who's under contract who's not).
