Being in a sparsely populated Western state I do not believe low income tax credits represent a tool that can be used due to the fact that there are so few credits available for so many projects competing for them.  

My question comes from lets say an activist's point of view.

I may try to start my own in the western suburbs.

People who have lived here for their entire lives and whose families have been here since before western contact are leaving for economic reasons. 

Not to dismiss their concerns, but I get the sense that the majority of the people at these Occupy events are professional activists who go to every type of protest, and people who were already on the margins anyway, and their message is unfocused.

@Przemyslaw Krol  what is your goal in going after landare you going to concentrate on infill highly desirable properties you can flip to infill builders.Or are you going to concentrate on low value Western US undeveloped land and try to buy for cash then carry back long term contracts on said land.Just curious what is going around these days.this land game is an old one just like all RE... and lord knows there are millions of worthless vacant parcels in the Western US>

Lately I have been driving for dollars near my current residence in the western suburbs of Chicago, but having a hard time finding distressed properties. 

Most parts of NWI are as close or closer to downtown Chicago as the Western burbs.
