I want to start investing in Illinois. How do I find out which counties and cities in those counties would be the best places to start in? Why?

@Account Closed,
I would suggest that you start by researching areas near your family. It is a huge advantage to have someone you trust near by to check on things when needed.
That being said, the Rockford area is a very good buy and hold location. Prices are low and there is a large pool of renters. It is a pure cash flow area, do not count on appreciation.
