I noticed that I could replace my income by doing this full time, so my wife and I up and left the so called "lucky country" (so called by most Australians, Engelo will know what I'm talking about) and decided to settle down in Scottsdale AZ and finally make this our full time job.Haven't looked back since and haven't lost money on a deal yet thanks to the knowledge and experience of my partner.

You have far more to contribute than simply cutting and pasting the same reply.Mattia,this scheme was prevalent in the Baaken oil fields in North Dakota and marketed heavily to Australians.. the projects were abject failures with total capital loss's.you simply want to make sure who ever your doing this with is VERY strong financially.

now in the good times that's not an issue but if things get tight it is.. and I can pretty much guarantee with Michigan RE this could happen if things get a little rocky.a Long term fixed 30 year loan CANNOT be called.. and you can make extra payments etc.Be cautious using a personal resi though make sure your rental is solid .. many foreign investor got pretty well duped by shysters selling them ghetto Detroit properties for huge inflated values.. and many of these folks ( mainly Australians ) mortgaged their homes only to find out the 80k home they bought in Detroit was really only worth 10k   LOL..

I know Australian investors cannot deduct personal home mortgage interest, but can deduct interest on an investment mortgage if it was purchased with a Heloc.
