If he protests or threatens some type of action, then 2) I will inform him in writing that the contract is over as of XX date due to (itemized list of his breach of contract), I will be filing complaints with various local private and governmental entities, I will be memorializing my true experiences on various online forums with photos included, and will take vigorous legal action including the filing of counterclaims as appropriate.

Those interested in protesting there are several groups gathering at the capital for a rally.

I read in a different thread that they often just increase the assessed value and hope the owners won't protest.

I successfully protested my tax appraisal last year.

And the unwavering anti-sex offender protesters (while rightfully so in MANY cases) make no distinction between a pedophile, and an old man that slapped a waitress' rear once in a diner 20 years ago (not condoning, but just pointing out it's a WIDE swath). 

See the developer protests at Google and Microsoft very recently as an example. 

It can be both too high and too low, depending on the house condition, improvements made (or neglected) by the owners, the owners protesting these assessments, developments in the area etc.When you buy the house, your local taxes will be calculated based on this assessed value - until it is reassessed by the government (usually annually) or you protest their assessment (rules on protests very greatly.)

-I think that I will get my 2019 property tax estimate in March or so, which of course I will protest...… still, it will go up from what the 2018 level was.
