If you do a quick search you'll find countless threads identical to this with lots of advice/opinions.Also in the future you should never state on a public forum that you have $150k cash sitting around.

Given the risk of identity theft, is it ethical for us landlords to be asking for this information? 

These lots are identical to the one the duplex sits on and is located off of a highway.

The answer is easy if you were dealing with two separate property identities or if you were dealing with the same property that you had changed use on.  

The problems in my opinion maybe the fear of identity theft or there pulling your leg and cant afford the property.

Does this reveal my identity as the owner of the property.
