The designs I am considering (IE: Goggle image "ram earth" check out the naturally beautiful 12" wall colors, and other variations of foam and concrete monolithic walls/roof are very different than conventional 2 x 4 wood insulated framing, so I may struggle with comps, code, banks, insurance, appraisers, altho I did read that banks are starting to consider e-bills when qualifying as in Energy Efficency Mortgage (EEM), FAA backed etc....Such as shame the stick/wood we use is the norm, better is outside the box and unacceptable or a battle.

i built a recording studio in one of my houses and used spray foam as a sound dampenerhttp://www.fomo.com/handi-foam-sound-barrier-low-p...i used it in ceilings and in the walls and it worked great.i also had lowered/tiled ceiling, so i could remove it easily in order to spray the foam.you may have more difficulty trying that.

They add cost in terms of framing time, fire rating material, engineering, and spray foaming.

We just stayed at a house that I thought the matress was so comfortable, when I checked to see what make it was, it was a memory foam topper(sleep innovations, 2-3" topper, put that on my list for future purchases) Nice soft sheets, soft blankets, nice pillows for all preferences and have at least 3 per person available.

I want to be sure that if we do use the inserts, the cavities (where the counterbalance weights now move) are air-sealed and filled with some good insulation (probably cellulose or spray foam).

Over the winter it was just air-sealed with spray foam, but was pretty chilly up there.
