They are grande and ornate, but are typically uninsulated ("glowing candles on a winter's night") and can be expensive to upkeep (depending on any historical restrictions or requirements on the building).

If you don't want tenants to mess with burning wood, then do a gas fireplace insert or electric fireplace insert or restrict the use for candle displays and decorative logs.
