If I see a person that I find particularly insightful or helpful to my business, often, I find it helpful to just give that person a call or send an email rather than a private message they may or may not get for an extended period of time.

If you send the person a message then you should be fine, but I have random people add me all the time and deny some of them if they don't have a picture, or a bio, and definitely if they don't send me a message.
