You've only owned it six months, so you probably haven't dealt with vacancies, maintenance, or capex, but you should be setting money aside for those things.Your partnership agreement (if you have one) should address exit options.

At one point years ago, I toyed with the idea of owning giant apartment complexes in multiple cities.

Do you own the entire building and have other occupants complained of a problem? 

It seems like someone told you real estate investing is a good idea, but you haven't done any research much on your own yet.
