The lowest discrepancy is in the Maritimes (Moncton is ranked as the most affordable housing in the country), but even here Halifax is running out in front of the region while smaller communities are disappearing and cities such as Saint John have faltering local economies.

There is no giant correction coming.Austin is ranked number 2 in the nation for 18 hour gateway cities so do not look for prices to be bargains anytime soon.

The highest ranking city I found on the best-performing cities index was NYC/Jersey City/White Plains and it was ranked 90th out of 200 metros and fell 28 spots from last year.
