Hi,

I have been reading BP on and off for almost 2 years. I am a chinese based in Beijing, China. would like to invest in buy&hold SFR in Houston area. I had some luck buying some properties in Beijing when prices were low. Hope to (re)invest some of that profit in US. understand it can be challenging doing this out-of-country. hoping houston prices coming down in 2016/7 (due to oil prices crashed) and it can be a good entry point for me?

BP is such an informative forum!

Kevin

@Kevin L. I don't think you are going to see price drops anywhere near that large in Houston. Oil prices are only expected to remain depressed for the next year or so, and as mentioned above, our economy is much more diversified now.

Due to low inventory, strong demand from boomerang buyers and those not wanting to miss the low interest rate environment with the fed threatening more rate hikes, as well as lots of cash buyers still on the scene, the $250K and under market is still pretty solid.

Only time will tell, but I think there's going to be a lot of sideline buyers next year wishing they'd got in the game instead of trying to predict the future. Rather than big price drops, I think we may see more normalization and leveling out, which after any big run up, is pretty common and healthy for the market. Just my 2 cents.....
