If your contract states that a certain outcome is expected,  such as house trim painted (rather than house trim will be painted with a horse hair brush with two  coats of paint with brush strokes in both horizontal and vertical direction)  and a general time schedule, such as completed by a certain date (rather than will work 8 am to 3 pm Mon through Fri) then you have a better chance of saying the person is a contractor or independent business rather than an employee.Think of how you deal with a plumber--The toilet is clogged. 

Put on the plastic and pay it off asap 

@James Wise I am seeing the various opinions and trying to decide what fits me best since I am number one :-)@Larry Fried I appreciate your advice.

We went to look at it toward the middle of March 2015 and there were holes in walls, missing fixtures, odd electrical (the wiring for the back porch light and exterior outlet have been pulled into the master bedroom), tiles missing in the master shower (green plastic was duck taped across 2/3 of the surround so they could use it anyway), and cabinets missing that were not that way in November when it was listed with our Realtor.

I feel like wholesaling is the least intimidating of all the big fish to fry.
