How do airline ticket prices cause an investment in real estate to be profitable?

Bottom line is there is so much variation in the economy there (Coke, Sports, Airlines, Tech, Automotive, Movie Industry, etc.) and there is a continued growth with International business occurring there too, so I just see a lot of potential for the area in the years to come.  

I have a good job (airline pilot) and can probably save enough in the next few years to buy a good investment property but I don't want to wait that long.  

Catering to commuting airline crews, opening a crash pad here in Milwaukee, WI is sure to attract pilots and being one myself, I know numerous colleagues I've flown with that usually need a place to stay.

If it were me, especially starting out, I'd want to invest in properties that I could keep my eyes on without needing an airline ticket.

Everett is getting a lot of attention from plans to start private airline service from Alaska Air and others. 

Airlines have issues with this all the time .
