Getting started sooner than later

Hi everyone!  I am a new investor in the Chicago northwest suburbs and am looking to meet some local investors or hear their story.   I have been educating myself through books, podcasts, forums, webinars etc..  I really want to get started as quickly as I can. I have a good job (airline pilot) and can probably save enough in the next few years to buy a good investment property but I don't want to wait that long.  I've contiplated wholesaling and have not completely turned it down yet, but I do have limited time when I'm home since I'm traveling all the time for work.  I've called some hard money lenders but they seem to want money in the bank already..  Maybe I have to be more patient and continue to save.  I'm willing to hustle but with my limited time at home it's hard because I usually spend it with my family.  Maybe there's something I can do virtually while on the road..? I want to get the ball rolling so any advice would be great!
