So if you are looking for an drywall guy you might ask the guy who does trim work and doors.In my limited experience most GC's will ask for 50% up front.

I once watched one of them take used book shelves and put them along 1 wall in the dining room, added new trim, a few doors and hardware, and POOF it was a built in buffet/hutch!
