The letter can show you kept the SD and he still owes the $2500.

That’s too bad for New Jersey, how are the tenants suppose to pay when the landlord turns over the apt or if the tenant needs the SD to put down on a new apartment?

I also don't take partial amounts, it's all or nothing (rent, SD, lease), so there is no misunderstanding or concerns during the process.
