Houses are so cheap there that it seems like most people I would want to rent to would buy...of course I know there are plenty of exceptions but the rental market here in the Springs seems stronger and less of a headache since we live here.

@Jason Eberhardt historically Memphis has been a popular market due to affordable prices and strong rent ratio's but personally, I think there are markets in the Midwest like Indianapolis and Kansas City which offer similar returns but with stronger economic and demographic fundamentals.

Also this is just a thought but perhaps if you have stronger links in the UK such as family etc it may be more ideal to focus there initially, but that depends on what you ultimately want to achieve from investing.
