Cost Segregation - Component depreciation

So this post is not for those who oppose this method.My question is when I have an item that is not fully depreciated but becomes obsolete (broken microwave) I have done a journal entry to move the remaining depreciation of the item into a repairs expense account.Do you feel that is the correct procedure?

The first line of the journal entry is a credit because you are taking the money out.The second line is your expense account because you are putting the money in.

You might do a general journal entry to be sure you are debiting and crediting the appropriate accounts against the cash that theoretically came in and went out.
