In Massachusetts the deal is usually the defendant (husband in this case) isn't allowed contact and must stay away within a certain amount of feet, something like 1000 feet. many times the judge has the defendant surrender keys but It all depends on what the judge says. like others have said it really has nothing to do with you and she may even have protection from you throwing her out.

We had to get an emergency plumber and cleaning crew in to stop the running water and damage.We mailed them a 15 day notice to get their property off ours since they surrendered keys with a handwritten note of intent to file bankrupty.

The option to terminate arises at the later of: the last day of the second calendar month that follows the calendar month in which the tenant died or upon surrender of the rental unit and removal of all of the tenant's personal property.
