Avoid National/Very Large companies i.e.

Its a magnet for grifters and fools, and the "investing" equivilent of going to that crummy casino in National Lampoons Vegas Vacation (?)

Or, would my money be better spent someplace down south or by a National Park that would have year round traffic.My goal is to have a place where my family can spend a couple of weeks during the Summer, pad my retirement a bit, and have a place to leave my kids.Thank you in advance for your input.

Sometimes Local PMs are better as they are more dedicated than national ones which tend to be very busy and not focused on you 

I would be cautious about that because their website may be built based on the experience of a national brand, not the local manager.
