Porcelain tile comes in 12x24 @ $2.50 sq ft with 2" edges that are about $3 foot....that also makes a nice countertop in a small kitchen (a gray or textured white travertine stone look would be nice) However the tile corners can be sharp and hard, so work better if sandwiched between drywall or cabinets if your kitchen is like that.

The way I see it, even if all the existing auto plants in Detroit remain but are just converted to electric, it seems the job base in the area would still be greatly diminished - there are far fewer components in the electric cars and less people are needed to manufacture them, not to mention that more components are being outsourced.
