Still, for someone else who may actually be in this predicament, I'll bring up the obvious answer no one has mentioned yet: 1031 exchange.Yes, in this case the OP is making up the details, but let's pretend they're legitimate to help out others; if she were to convert the property into a rental as @Jordan Moorhead suggests, she could at least avoid the short-term capital gains that are the real killer in this situation and move to long-term.
