Also, unscrew each fuse, one at a time, and check for pennies or washers behind it... people really did do that and it really does start fires.You might consider replacing the fuse box with a modern breaker panel

French Mocha on walls , and white enamel on all doors, jambs, moldings, cabinets,  repaired any damage to walls, replaced doors that were either gone or damaged. all 6 panel now.

They have added solar panels on the back of the roof to help but everything I've read has been to stay away from a property that doesn't have separate metering.

It's Armored BX cable, but on fuses panels, and it's 60 Amps of service to each unit, and 30 Amps (might be 60, but there was a 30 Amp fuse present) for the common (hallway and outdoors lights, as well as furnace, washer, and gas dryer).
