And instead of putting in expensive counters (or is it counter tops) you can measure it yourself and put in lole a butcher block counter tops.

A wise old timer taught me early on the first rule to making a butcher shop pay.

I think if you are going to go with 2 different things, you need to do 2 different materials. ie granite for cabinets, butcher block for the island, or quartz for the cabinets and granite for the island in complimenting colors but not matchy.

Butcher block from Ikea is a super cheap counter top that looks high end and costs ~$140-200 for an 8ft counter.  

If you don't care if she butchers the shape of the tree, I'd let her know she is free to prune to the property line. 

Get some butcher block if you need it wider.

That is not fair.I blame the gurus that COMPLETELY butcher what and how wholesaling is supposed to be done!

I most certainly would not want the person who has butchered my tax position to help me fix it and potentially make it even worse.
