Paying your mortgage off early is a great benefit, not only can you live "rent free" earlier, you now have a source of money for investments that may come your way, like Will uses his HELOC.While I agree that using the "mortgage interest" argument for keeping a mortgage is weak, as others have posted, having no mortgage may not be the "highest and best" use of one's assets.

Hate to disagree...but...I used to run group homes and this was a chronic problem especially with people on certain types of meds.

I think this is a good post and I will play devils advocate to the responses just for the heck of it.The main replies have been a) the economy is fine don't worry about it and b) were in this for the long haul don't worry about itBut remember, we live in a world where the economy is so weak that investors, businesses and even banks and governments are watching to see what financial engineering will be needed to keep the train on the tracks.

:Countertop was professionally installed; I am checking w/ vendor right now to determine the cause and possible repair cost, will keep you posted if interested.Here are the images That's a natural weak spot in that fabrication, it's at the weakest place on that counter top and right at the radius.

I agree that Hypersupply of housing in coastal SoCal is a chronic problem, which is why rents are so low, going down, and vacancy rates are so high.

I've definitely studied the heck out and have people to run numbers by but to be honest I think that my biggest weakness will be coming across like I don't know anything about the multifamily game because I have no experience with it.
