If you don't know your numbers you will never have a good investment.Start there and if after doing some reading, talking to people here, and some meetups.

Where another issue arrises is I recently quit my job after becoming pregnant as they would not cover my maternity while overseas, my husband is employed however he works for a UK company and is British so would be unlikely to help us with the situation in the US.

Their pro formas felt optimistic with providing 6% annual appreciation and property management that is only about 6% of rent so I take it with a grain of salt (they offer their own property management services but it has terrible reviews on Yelp so I would probably go with someone else). 

His good customer service convinced us to go with Kiavi over two other vendors offering similar rates.
