Regarding employment verification, unless you look up the company in the phone book, and call the published number to locate a Human Resources person or a Manager (without asking for the person named as supervisor on the application), you run the risk of getting purely false information.

If you're smart about it and wait around for a "great deal" and not just a "good deal" than you minimize your downside because the area there is mostly renters whether that's university or otherwise...and as long as there isn't false appreciation baked into the purchase price you ended up with limited downside and significant upside.

Also the comment about fuses only tripping in a high overload situation but not in a situation where the circuit is running hot is false.

What is starting to get to me is the absurdity of some of the additional requests by the underwriter:- letter from our CPA "verifying" the existence of both our businesses, and that they are "still in business".
