It worked alright, but it was white vinegar that did the trick of getting rid of the smells.

However, we have a choice and I think it's worth the effort to use honey rather than vinegar.

Take a security deposit, then eat the rabbit...I would suggest cooking on a Green Egg with hickory wood, then serve with a sauce you can make with cracked pepper, and a Cherry Preserve, and balsamic vinegar.

I once pours undiluted white vinegar on one such and the surface bubbled like acid, but it removed it and after some additional cleaning it was back to new.

It is likely you will garner getter long term service being honey rather than vinegar.

We just went through renovating a cigarette smoker cat spray house (an inherited tenant) and after 3 full scrubbings with TSP, soaking slab and subfloors in vinegar several times over several weeks, then painting subfloors with Kilz, duct cleaning, etc., it finally seems to be resolved.  

I don't feel comfortable with 64 oz of vinegar hanging from it.

As a cat owner I can testify that this actually has worked better than pet store solutions in our house:First mix vinegar and water 50/50 and soak the areaWhen almost dry soak the area with a mix of 1 cup hydrogen peroxide (3%) mixed with 1 teaspoon of dish soap.
