Other reasons why "reversed living" is not as desirable is that it often means you have 1 or more bedrooms facing the street/sidewalk which is not great for privacy, and you lose the interior/exterior connection between the living spaces and the rear yard which is soooo essential in SoCal.

I note in the advertisements that a google voice number is used for privacy reasons so potential tenants don't think the number is a scam (it announces to the caller that it IS a google voice number). 

Our house was on almost an acre on a corner lot and was pretty wooded, so people liked the privacy and the quiet.

Here in Ontario, Canada, a direct mail campaign can't use any of the above because they don't exist due to our privacy laws.

Updated fence provides privacy & ample space for pets & children to play. 2 blocks to Monon Trail, Red Line, State Fairgrounds, Library, local shops & eateries!

Most of that came down to location (back yard was to an apartment complex with no privacy fence big enough to help).

A few scenarios I'm pondering below... 1) Rent rooms:  Easiest and quickest option but also my least favorite since the whole privacy factor.  

When you give up your email or phone number online, ALWAYS be sure to read the privacy policy of the company in question.
