listless

ˈlis(t)ləs/

adjective

  1. (of a person or their manner) lacking energy or enthusiasm.

    "bouts of listless depression"

The definition above does not describe me, but the parallel to my situation is amusing.

What would you do if you were simply unable to get lists. No absentee owner list, no tax arrears list, no probate list, no expired listings list, no divorce list, no jobless list, no equity lists, no eviction lists, no open municipal orders list, no lists at all. Would that leave you lacking energy or enthusiasm?

More importantly, what would you do to wholesale if you did not have access to any of these lists?

Here in Ontario, Canada, a direct mail campaign can't use any of the above because they don't exist due to our privacy laws. I can blanket neighbourhoods, or I can get simple lists like household income, owner vs renter, and some other vague demographics.

A recent podcast guest, @Tom Krol (damnit, BP, mentions aren't working today!) said that without his lists he has no business.

keywords: Yellow letter, postcard, mailer, wholesale, advertising, marketing
