Memphis is interesting, it's an inland port with distribution centers so there is a large transient population of workers who are looking to rent which probably accounts for the high rents compared to the low cost of entry.

Anna Maria Inland seems to be a good place for short term rentals or Airbnb type .. its a pretty small area but very nice also .. i can only assume if your looking in that area you and your husband are looking upward of $350k up ( if you can even find something on the inland fir that ) its been a while since I have looked at the prices there ..
