Many banks have loan modifications going on, but from many conversations with a friend who works in loan mods at Chase, these programs are not designed to help investors.

There are plenty of things a debtor can do to delay the process that doesn't include the work and effort of submitting a full loan mod package like the MMM requires. 

You could also pick up a non-performing loan, work with the borrower and give them a loan mod and make it performing.

In my opinion, and that of others, these loan mod companies are scams.

With a loan mod it would be possible to reduce the payment over the first year to around $850 per month.

I X'd out the specific because the mods are so picky on this website.
